Structural Characteristics and Deformation Evolution of an Intra-Continental Fold-Thrust Belt in Eastern Sichuan: Insights Into Analogue Sandbox Models

چکیده
The Eastern Sichuan area is a typical fold-and-impulse zone. It bounded by the Qiyue Mountain fault, with septal folds on east and west. Based previous geological mapping surface structure research as well fault-related folding theory, in this study, tectonophysical simulation experiments were conducted to investigate tectonic geometry kinematics of fold-impulse selecting different experimental materials changing physical properties cover, friction between cover basement, number slip layers, burial depth, other factors. Finally, similarity results morphological characteristics real was assessed. show that deformation style influenced some extent brittle shear strength ductile interlayer cohesions competent incompetent high rheology, depth slickensides played crucial roles formation final evolution fold fault step-like system, composed lower crustal crystalline basement detachment surface, regional boundary fractures, overlying Cambrian Triassic synclines, necessary condition for zone controls overall Under action multiple phases activity main stress orientations, phenomenon superimposed directions observed at present formed. well-developed karst features are not conducive construction project tunnel where tightly closed back-slope, fissures, normal faults have developed

Collapse structures in Dowgonbadan region, Zagros fold- thrust belt
Allochthonous masses are common structures in Zagros fold-thrust belt. They are generally considered as collapse structures formed by the influence of gravity and in rock units with competency contrast. However, large allochthonous masses mapped in Dowgonbadan area in Dezful Embayment near the Mountain Front Fault (MFF) of Zagros show characteristics different from the belt common collapse stru...
متن کاملRelative timing of calcite twinning strain and fold-thrust belt development; Hudson Valley fold-thrust belt, New York, U.S.A
Coarse-grained limestone samples were collected across the Hudson Valley Fold-Thrust Belt with the aim of determining the temporal and spatial relationship between calcite twinning strain and fold-thrust belt development. The majority of the samples have well defined oblate strain ellipsoids with the maximum shortening axes (e3) perpendicular to bedding strike, and e3 magnitudes that range from...
متن کاملGrowth and erosion of fold-and-thrust belts with an application to the Aconcagua fold-and-thrust belt, Argentina
[1] The development of topography within and erosional removal of material from an orogen exerts a primary control on its structure. We develop a model that describes the temporal development of a frontally accreting, critically growing Coulomb wedge whose topography is largely limited by bedrock fluvial incision. We present general results for arbitrary initial critical wedge geometries and in...
متن کاملan investigation into iranian teachers consistency and bias in evaluation of students writings
while performance-based language assessment has led to an increased authenticity and content validity in the practice of writing assessment, the reliability of ratings has become a major issue. research findings have shown different reactions by native english speaker (nes) and non-native english speaker (nns) teachers to students’ writings. the focus of this study is on investigating whether i...
Crustal scale geometry of the Zagros fold–thrust belt, Iran
Balanced cross-sections across the Zagros fold–thrust belt in Iran are used to analyze the geometry of deformation within the sedimentary cover rocks, and to test the hypothesis of basement involved thrusting throughout the fold–thrust belt. Although the Zagros deformation front is a relatively rectilinear feature, the sinuous map-view morphology of the mountain front is a result of a 6 km stru...
